Verizon Slide & Ski Weekend - Jackson Hole, WY

MARCH 29-30, 2008

At the end of March, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort hosted the Verizon Slide & Ski Weekend (formerly the Verizon Luge Challenge). This event, which took place in conjunction with the third-annual Winter Festival, exposed thousands of people to the sport of luge. Verizon and USA Luge created this opportunity so that the average person could experience the thrill of luge in a safe setting with instruction from the entire 15-member USA Luge World Cup and international team.

Inside the Slide & Ski Chalet

Located at the base of the luge track was a 60 ft. dome called “The Verizon Slide & Ski Chalet.” A host of amenities could be found inside the dome, including a winter BBQ, barista station, DJ, boot warmers, massages, and a green-screen photo op for guests. USA Luge World Cup athletes were available as well to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

The chalet was open to everyone, giving people the chance to learn about some of Verizon’s latest products and services. The dome, which had the Verizon logo applied to it, served as a unique marketing environment while providing space for after-luge events.

Six Billion Paths to Peace launch in Times Square

MARCH 20, 2008

On the first day of Spring, The Shinnyo-en Foundation launched the “Six Billion Paths to Peace” global initiative in Times Square. Symmetry Event Solutions, who produced the event, pruchased a 24 ft. Dome that was designed to look like the globe.

Earth Dome on Military Island

The Dome was set up on “Military Island” surrounded by a lush garden oasis to demonstrate that no matter where you are, or who you are, it is possible to find and create peace. For eleven hours, the “Earth Dome” attracted the attention of New Yorkers and asked them to consider the contributions they could make to create a more harmonious world. This event attracted over 1,000 visitors within the first two hours.
