SEPTEMBER 26 – OCTOBER 13, 2008
The brand new 2009 Nissan Murano was recently introduced inside a 36 ft. geodesic dome in Tokyo, Japan. The car made one of its first official appearances at Akasaka Art Flower, an event that transformed one of Tokyo’s central business districts into a museum for a few weeks this fall.
The event was geared towards exposing people to the works of contemporary artists which were displayed at restaurants, shrines, schools and other places around the city. The hope is that Akasaka will be recognized as the new cultural center of Tokyo.
The 36 ft. blackout vinyl dome was erected in front of the modern TBS (Tokyo Broadcast System) building. Inside was an exclusive showroom featuring Nissan’s new crossover SUV, a redesigned version of the Murano. The dome sat at the entrance to this recently built skyscraper where its futuristic zen-like appearance attracted lots of attention.
Not only was it situated in a prime location, it was also fantastically lit up with colored lights to draw even more people in. Domes are ideal for use as automobile showrooms because they offer spacious environments that are free of support poles. The blackout cover allows for controlled lighting within, therefore enabling the brand to achieve the exact consumer experience it wants.
