36 ft. Event Dome at CES

JANUARY 10, 2009

One of our 36 ft. event domes made its way to Las Vegas this month for a catered event that was planned to coincide with CES. The dome was used to target a very specific clientele who would be in attendance at the high-tech tradeshow that takes over the city every January. The dome played its part by drawing in gamers and overclockers who use very high end, revved up computer systems. It was chosen for its futuristic appearance which helps to establish a unique type of atmosphere that sets it apart from the norm. The Event Lite skin also provided a large “screen” for digital projection.

We erected the structure in the parking lot of a local business. It was there that many big names in the overclocking industry gathered to see AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) show off their new Phenom II processor. There were also internet gaming machines on site. As people crowded around inside the lit up dome at night, they were able to witness a live demo right on the structure’s fabric cover.

Dome set up in parking lot

The dome was a great solution for our client because of its ability to be set up easily right in the parking lot. The lack of suppport poles created an interior space that was inviting and was able to accommodate people and equipment without any obstructions. It also looked pretty cool to the high-tech group that was using it!

Trump Dome Goes to Hollywood

Trump Dome in Bel Air

The 60 ft. “Trump Dome” that debuted in New York City this past June made it’s way to Bel Air for a second appearance at the end of August. The dome was set up at a private estate for another lavish party to celebrate the new Trump International Hotel & Tower on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. This was the second stop on a worldwide tour which will include London and end in Dubai. It’s all part of Donald Trump’s plan to spread the word about his joint building project with real estate developer Nakheel.

Many Hollywood celebrities joined Donald Trump and Nakheel’s Executive Chairman, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, in Bel Air for the exclusive event. Christina Aguilera’s live performance was one of the evening’s highlights and the stiltwalking greeters, with hats shaped like Trump’s new property, helped put this party over the top!

60 ft. Suspended Dome

The sleek, white dome was where the real magic took place though. This was where Trump and Nakheel were able to transport all 1,000 guests to Dubai with the use of Obscura Digital’s amazing technology. The dome became a giant cinema where 360 degree video projection brought imagery of the gulf islands and Trump’s new tower to life. Inside the dome, Hollywood’s elite felt like they were standing right underneath the property. Obscura put together a presentation of continually changing video screens, that to some felt like a movie trailer, and the dome’s immersive environment helped to pull off the whole experience (click here to see some more photos of the event).

The 60 ft. event dome was designed with an exterior geodesic frame, only the second of its kind. Suspended from it on the inside was a 3-layer fabric cover. This design works in conjunction with Obscura Digital’s proprietary projection liner that features vacuum-sealing technology, ensuring a tight fit and smooth surface that’s not obstructed by the frame. It’s a very unique look which sets the dome apart from our traditional designs.
