Sky1 TV – Got To Dance Domes

November 10, 2009

Sky1 - Got To Dance 90ft Dome

The UK’s most popular entertainment channel Sky1 is home to the exciting new dance competition program Got To Dance, presided by Davina McCall. Pacific Domes paired with Element Domes provided the “Sky Domes”. This featured one of our largest most breathtaking domes, a 90ft, and two connecting 36ft domes for the TV Studio space.

Sky1 - Got To Dance, London Domes

The two smaller domes were used as rehearsal and holding areas for the dancers to relax before entering onto the main stage. The larger dome was used as the main studio, where live audiences were able to watch the auditions take place.

Sky1 - Got To Dance, Manchester Domes

The first round of Got To Dance, known as “Dancing in the Street” auditions took place in Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal, followed by Manchester’s City Football Club, and London’s O2 arena. The whole filming process took place over the month of October.

Sky1 - Got To Dance, Studio Dome

We were very pleased to provide our unique structures for Sky’s mobile TV Studio. Got to Dance is scheduled for broadcast in January 2010. Be sure to follow these talented dancers as they perform in this one of a kind, truly exceptional dome studio.

SEPTEMBER 25-27, 2009

Earthdance, the Global Dance Festival for Peace, is the world’s largest simultaneous music and dance event that takes place each year in 60+ countries. Its goal is to inspire people all over the globe to support humanitarian causes. It aims to unite people through the universal language of music and dance while joining in a day of peaceful celebration and harmony. The objective is to create as many Earthdance events around the world as possible.

Earthdance 09 Day Shot

Pacific Domes has been working with Earthdance in Laytonville, California since 2001. Every year we sponsor the festival by providing event domes which are used for multiple purposes throughout the weekend. This year we featured The Temple of Electronica which was a 60 ft. dome that lit up the night. It was mostly empty during daylight hours but when the sun made its descent, the music and lightshows took over. The atmosphere inside was like a nightclub with bands playing and people dancing until sunrise. The dome was full of festival energy!

Earthdance Inside Shot

Earthdance is expanding its circle to include anyone interested in world peace. At each event around the world, promoters donate at least 50% of their profits to a local charity. There are no conditions on how big or small an Earthdance celebration needs to be. We encourage you to participate on whatever level is comfortable for you, whether it’s a public or private event. If you would like to get involved please visit http://www.earthdance.org/.

White and Blue Boat Show at Rimini, Italy

May 13, 2009

SDC10153For the most glamorous boating event of the season, the Rimini Fair organised this year’s show using our Domes to characterize their “Quintessentially Blue Terrace Boat Show”. The appointed space for 400 exclusive guests of honor was one of our DomesSDC10096

The 3 installed Domes, measuring respectively 16, 30, 36 feet in diameter, were used as the Information Desk Dome, the Lounge Bar Dome, and the Star Office Dome (the business centre for the fair and it’s guests).  Each one attracted immense interest and appraisal from the public, as well as from the operators attending.

SDC10176

On one particular day, with high winds of 38 knots, the Domes proved their capacity as structures capable of withstanding elements which traditional structures may not always be able to do.  Other operators, which took refuge in the Domes, learned the truth to our slogan “under the Dome, life is always beautiful!”.

Domes in Slovakia

February 28, 2009

image001

Pacific domes partnered with Creative Domes by Event Technology, a company dealing with overall event production in the summer of 2008. Domes were built in Slovakia for the first time as a roadshow partyzone traveling through four largest Slovakian summer music festivals. Each 2-day festival hosted about 30,000 unique visitors to party in our Dome Partyzone.

The partyzone was created by a 90ft dome surrounded by two 36ft domes and was open for festival visitors all through the festival, offering a large round center bar with a DJ tower on the top and VJ and lightning art on the sides of the dome.

The smaller domes involved a chillout zone with activities like Virtual reality motorcycle contest on Suzuki motorcycles, Nintendo Wii, customized magazine covers made out of pictures against blue screen.

Dome Attracts Techies from CES

January 23, 2009

36 ft. Event Dome at CES

JANUARY 10, 2009

One of our 36 ft. event domes made its way to Las Vegas this month for a catered event that was planned to coincide with CES. The dome was used to target a very specific clientele who would be in attendance at the high-tech tradeshow that takes over the city every January. The dome played its part by drawing in gamers and overclockers who use very high end, revved up computer systems. It was chosen for its futuristic appearance which helps to establish a unique type of atmosphere that sets it apart from the norm. The Event Lite skin also provided a large “screen” for digital projection.

Projection Demo on Dome Skin

We erected the structure in the parking lot of a local business. It was there that many big names in the overclocking industry gathered to see AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) show off their new Phenom II processor. There were also internet gaming machines on site. As people crowded around inside the lit up dome at night, they were able to witness a live demo right on the structure’s fabric cover.

Dome set up in parking lot

The dome was a great solution for our client because of its ability to be set up easily right in the parking lot. The lack of suppport poles created an interior space that was inviting and was able to accommodate people and equipment without any obstructions. It also looked pretty cool to the high-tech group that was using it!
